Supporting VICSES Women in Rescue: Empowering Volunteers, Strengthening Communities
At Workwear Group, we believe in the power of community, collaboration, and creating meaningful impact. That’s why we were incredibly honoured to support the recent VICSES Women in Rescue event by providing socks as giveaway gifts for participants.

This initiative brought together over 300 female and gender-diverse VICSES volunteers across seven locations in Victoria to enhance their rescue skills, build confidence, and work as a team in a supportive and empowering environment.
Our partnership with VICSES spans over 4 years, during which we've proudly designed and manufactured high-quality, functional uniforms for their volunteers. As part of this ongoing collaboration, we identified the need for a more tailored uniform option for women and developed the "alternate fit," allowing female VICSES volunteers to wear uniforms specifically designed for them, rather than adapting men's styles. Workwear Group Uniforms is at the forefront of supporting the female workforce, dedicating resources to both onshore and offshore research to incorporate the latest technology and innovations, ensuring our uniforms cater to everyone.
A Day of Learning, Connection, and Skill-Building
Held at multiple sites, including Bangholme, the event featured a series of hands-on training exercises, giving volunteers the opportunity to refine their expertise in critical emergency response areas, including:
- Road Crash Rescue simulations
- Urban Search and Rescue scenarios
- Mass Casualty response training
- Safe Working at Heights activities
Each exercise was designed to equip VICSES volunteers with the practical skills needed to respond effectively to real-world emergencies. The dedication, passion, and enthusiasm on display throughout the day were truly inspiring.

The Impact of Support: A Heartfelt Thank You
Beyond the training, the sense of camaraderie and encouragement was at the heart of this event. Hearing firsthand how our small contribution made a difference to the participants made us even more proud to be involved.
As Christina Hornby-Waring, Deputy Controller of the VICSES Upper Yarra Unit, shared:
"I just wanted to send a huge thank you to Workwear Group for your generous donation! The women absolutely loved them, and they were a fantastic addition to the day. Your support truly made a difference, and we’re so grateful!"
Moments like these remind us that even the smallest gestures—like a pair of socks—can help foster a positive, inclusive, and empowering atmosphere for those who dedicate their time to keeping our communities safe.
Looking Ahead: Continuing to Support Community Initiatives
At Workwear Group, we’re passionate about championing those who protect and serve. Supporting initiatives like Women in Rescue aligns with our commitment to empowering individuals in all industries—especially those breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated fields.
We look forward to continuing our support for VICSES and other incredible organisations that make a lasting impact in our communities.
